Taiwanese company TSMC, which makes the world’s most advanced computer chip, will no longer supply chips to China. The company came to know last month that its chips had reached the Chinese company Huawei. America, Taiwan’s major ally, has imposed restrictions on the supply of semiconductor chips to Huawei. A customer of TSMC in China had placed an order for the supply of a processor with the company. It is not yet known how the chip reached Huawei. After the US ban, TSMC’s income from Chinese companies has halved. The world’s big tech companies contract with TSMC to make semiconductors. The US government has banned companies like Nvidia from selling AI chips to China. It has asked Japanese and Dutch companies not to sell chip-making machines to China.
